East Avenue Area, Livermore
East Avenue in Livermore has always been a wonderful neighborhood to live and work in.
The East Avenue Shopping Center, nowadays known as Chardonnay Center, has long been the anchor for the area. (Ray's former insurance office was located there for over 23 years.) The two National Labs, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Sandia National Laboratory are located at the East end of the Avenue. There are many housing tracts along the Avenue, built at different times over the years.
Early housing tracts included the Jensen Tract, Valley East, and Almond Estates. There was a building slowdown in the 70's and early 80's. Then, in the late 80's and 90's, the Livermore City Council emphasized "in-fill". Thus, many smaller tracts such as Windmill Springs and Brookmeadow Park arose.
